So I missed about half the presentation from Tuesday, and I think I missed the meatier half too.
But reading around on other people’s blogs sure has helped me piece together some sort of picture of what I missed. I think it basically comes down to whether or not schools and teachers in particular are going to try to keep up with what is changing in the world (on the internet mostly), and try to use it in their classrooms. Using social media sites like Twitter, blogs, and facebook may be advantageous to a first year teacher. I think it would be a great idea to have a “professional” facebook page… You can use it exclusively for your teaching. Upload articles that will help students study, have class votes about what should be on the test, and it gives students an easy way to contact you!
Just an idea, but I think having a professional facebook page might be a good idea–it’ll keep your school life and real life separate, which is just wonderbar.
